Lean
Lean consists of elegant and simple tools that assist in the identification and steady elimination of waste. As waste is eliminated, quality improves while production time and cost are reduced. Lean also takes into account waste created through overburden (“Muri”) and waste created through unevenness in work load (“Mura”).
Lean is not heavily dependent on data for creating transformational changes, and has universal applicability too. The focus of Lean is upon improving the “flow” or smoothness of work, and it works around its seven principles which include amplify learning, eliminate waste, deliver as fast as possible, decide as late as possible, build integrity in, empower the team, and see the whole.
Lean implementation is therefore focused on getting the right things to the right place at the right time in the right quantity to achieve perfect work flow, while minimizing waste and being flexible and able to change.
